Obituary for John Joseph "Jack" Taylor

John Joseph "Jack" Taylor
John [Jack] Joseph Taylor, 43, of Belleville, Illinois passed away on September 22, 2017. He was born to Richard and Theresa Taylor on October 16, 1973. Jack grew up attending First Christian Church of Belleville, and graduated from Belleville East High School in 1991. Passionate about MMA, Jack enjoyed training others, reading how-to books, watching fights, and even getting the opportunity to meet some of his MMA role models. He had a love for music and said that he could never pick a favorite song; he preferred to listen to his music from a portable radio so he would always have it with him. Known for his charisma, energy, wide grin, and generous spirit, Jack spent his life caring for, protecting, and giving his time, money, and possessions to others. Whether it was teaching his nephews martial arts moves, taking his niece on a shopping spree, helping his parents around the yard and with projects, protecting strangers on the metro, giving away his bike to someone in need, working hard at his job, saving people from a fire, or helping out his roommates, Jack never did meet a stranger and was loved by everyone he met. Jack was constantly striving to learn through taking night classes at SWIC, checking out books at the library on topics as varied from metaphysics to psychology, studying different versions of the Bible, and coming up with new business ideas. The energy, interesting conversations, and charisma he brought into any room was unparalleled and will be missed by all who had the chance to meet him. Jack was adored by his late grandparents Kate and Jack Brady, and Jim and Joann Taylor. He is survived by his parents Theresa and Richard Taylor, of Belleville, IL; brother Joseph (Molly) Taylor, of Carmel, IN; nieces and nephews Alexis, Liam, and Riley Taylor; aunts and uncles and cousins; and countless friends. Private services are to be held later.
