Obituary for Raymundo Otero

Raymundo Otero, age 87, of Collinsville, passed away at 6:57 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at his residence, with his family by his side.

Mr. Otero founded Ramon's El Dorado Restaurant in Collinsville in 1967. He was extremely active in the community, with memberships in the Rotary, Lions Club, the Shriners, Knights of Columbus and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce. Prior to starting the restaurant, Mr. Otero sold Mexican food from the back of his trunk. He also worked for Western Union.

He was born December 4, 1928 in Topia, Durango, Mexico, the son of the late Raymundo and Vincenta (Garcia) Otero. He married Estella Herrera. She survives. Alos surviving are three children: Socorro Del Carmen (husband Roberto) of Collinsville, Carlos Alexander Otero (wife Michelle) of Collinsville and Raymond Otero (fiance Vanessa) of Caseyville; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his siblings: Lamberto Otero, Alicia Otero, Evangelina Segovia, Teresa Otero and Javier Otero.

According to his wishes, his remains will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2016 at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 901 N. Main St in Caseyville.
