Obituary for Anthony Ray Compton

Anthony (Tony) Ray Compton, 32, of Belleville, Illinois, passed away on October 28th, 2021.

Anthony was born on June 26th, 1989 to Rory Compton and Dawn McGeehan (née Keller) at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Illinois. Anthony was a son, not only to Rory and Dawn, but also to Lisa Compton (née Gonzales).

Anthony would light up the room with his smile, bubbly laugh, and sense of humor. He was a true empath and cared deeply about those around him. He was a great listener and would always make time to connect with his friends and family. Anthony was very intelligent and a lifetime learner, earning his GED and continuing to take college courses and earn certificates in construction. He believed that knowledge was everything and that you could never stop learning. A hard worker, Anthony worked as a roofer, and was transitioning his skills to home renovation. He was passionate about writing and drawing. With no fear, Anthony always took everything head on. Anthony wore his heart on his sleeve and had great integrity.

Besides Anthony's parents, he is survived by five siblings: Shawn (Michael) Vernoy (née Compton) of Belleville, IL, Becky (Steven) Jaworski (née Stivers) of Cinnaminson, NJ, Michael Gonzales of Belleville, IL, Andrew Guess of Kaiser, MO and Richard McGeehan of Marissa, IL; four nephews, five nieces and one great-nephew; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Anthony is preceded in death by his grandparents: Eugene Compton, Ramona Compton (née Siebecker), Velma Compton (née Francis), Robert Keller and Monalee Keller (née Beck).
