Obituary for Carol A. Wagner

Carol Ann Wagner, 72, of Glen Carbon IL , born December 2, 1949 in Chicago, died Tuesday September 6, 2022 at Eden Village Retirement Center in Glen Carbon, IL after a short battle with cancer.

Carol was a stay at home mom for many years, but then in the 1990’s she began to work at McDonald’s in O’Fallon, IL. Carol worked there for over 14 years in a variety of positions including at the register, birthday party planning, working with Ronald McDonald locally and her favorite; working in drive thru. Had you ever visited this McDonalds during this time, you most likely came across Carol, her infectious smile and her love to talk with people.

She enjoyed life to the fullest being a wife and mom. She was a Cub Scout leader, enjoyed working outside planting flowers, playing board and card games, taking care of her dogs and family. She also loved working at McDonalds and her soap operas, particularly General Hospital, which she had watched every episode for 49 years.

Later in life Carol found a new place in life as a “social butterfly” at Eden Village Retirement Center. It was here that once again she shared that smile and laugh with anyone and everyone. She was a blessing to many and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Julia Maslan, and her husband of 47 years, Theodore.

Surviving are her son, Dennis and daughter-in-law, Susan; grandson, Justin; sister, Geri Maslan; brothers-in-law, Bob, John and Ron Wagner; sister-in-law, Debbie Jordan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would especially like to thank the amazing staff of Eden Village Retirement Center and VITAS Hospice for their excellent work and loving care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice and sent to P.O. Box 766, O’Fallon, IL 62269.

Services: Carol requested cremation and a private family service.
