Caroline G. “Susan” Hamel, age 74, of Cottage Hills, IL, died Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Alton memorial Hospital in Alton, IL.
She was born April 26, 1946 in Rosiclare, IL, the daughter of the late Harvey and Flossie (Nicler) Preston. She married Jerry S. Hamel May 21, 1976. He preceded her in death May 16, 2018.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two children: Shawn Frost and Julie Barnard; and five siblings: Barb Bramlet, Genell Milam, Pete Quartermouse, Bud Preston and Gertrude Vineyard.
Surviving are three children: Dawn (Dane) Boss of Alabama, Tony (Terra Clendenny) Hamel of Bethalto and Gary Hamel of Highland; four grandchildren: Tiffany Hamel, Tristan Boss, Sam Hamel and Autumn Frost; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Pearson of Manchester, MO.
Caroline’s remains will be cremated and no services will be held at this time.
