Obituary for Daniel B. Baker

Daniel B.  Baker
Daniel B. Baker, age 86, of O’Fallon, died Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in O’Fallon. He was born December 15, 1931 in New York, NY, the son of the late Albert and Rose (Buechler) Baker. Daniel and Avis R. Smith were married on Feb 6, 1952 in Emporia KS. She preceded him in death on December 21, 2014.

Daniel is survived by four children: Daniel B. Baker, II of Springfield, MO, Neil P. Baker of Minneapolis, MN, Brenda L. (Terry) Hobbs of O’Fallon and Glen E. Baker of Swansea; nine grandchildren: Katie J.(Denver) McDaniel, Alex E. Baker, Samanth R. Baker, Andrew H. Baker, Mary A. (Zach) Brammer, Kelly E. Hobbs, Griffin P. Baker and Marshall L. Baker; and seven great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents and wife, Mr. Baker was preceded in death by a grandchild, Nicki Baker; and a brother, Albert H. Baker, II.

Daniel was a veteran of the US Army and was a member of St. Martin of Tours Lutheran Church in Mascoutah. He received his Master’s Degree in History and worked as Director of Admissions for various universities throughout his distinguished career, retiring in 1994.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018 at St. Martin of Tours Lutheran Church in Mascoutah.
