Obituary for Danny L. Wright

Danny L. Wright, age 74, of Trenton, lost his battle with Black Lung Disease on Friday, March 19, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born November 7, 1946 in Springfield, IL, the son of the late Lloyd and Lorene Wright. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sallie A. Wright; and a brother-in-law, John Homeier.

He is survived by his wife of over 57 years, Beverly (Butler) Wright; three children: Kecia (Brett) Therion of Trenton, Scott (Kathy) Wright of New Baden, and Eric (Dawn) Wright of Trenton; eight grandchildren: Nathan Santos, Nick (Aly) Santos, Stephanie Renth, Ford Wright, Shane Therion, Samantha (Brian) Havlisch, Tyler Grafton and Kara Grafton; four great-grandchildren: Jace Renth, Emmalyn Renth, Benjamin Havlisch and Isabella Havlisch; and two sisters: Elaine Homeier of Chatham, IL and Rebecca (Ronald) Helton of Chatham, IL.

Mr. Wright was a coal miner with Monterey Coal Company, retiring in 2001. He was also a carpenter and enjoyed woodworking and shooting, both trap and pistol. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Lebanon, holding several offices within the church and helped with Laborers for Christ when he could. He was very involved with Habitat for Humanity, where he served on the board of directors. He was also a member of UMWA, the NRA and Rampart Shooting Range.

According to his wishes, his remains will be cremated and private burial of his ashes will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in his memory can be given to the American Lung Association.
