Obituary for Diana Powell (Brashier)

Diana Powell, age 79, of Collinsville, IL, died at 2:52 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2023, at her residence.
She was born December 19, 1943, in Evansville, Indiana, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Madge (Lasater) Brashier. She married Randall Powell June 8, 1976. He survives.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two children: Darin (Gina) Lee of Maryville, IL and Denise (Mark) Dismukes of O'Fallon, IL; two step-children: Craig (Angela) Powell of Huntsville, UT, and Kimberly Powell of Murphysboro, IL; seven grandchildren: Jackson Lee, Danielle Lee, Kyle Dismukes, Kelsey Dismukes, Israel Powell, Skylar Noice, and Julian Noice; and a brother, Kenneth Brashier (Jody Pollard) of Evansville, IN; Two nieces: Kendra Altobelli of Framingham, MA, and Kacie Williams of Evansville, IN; Several cousins including Byrd Huber of Carmi, IL and Rebecca Brashier of Germany.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Brashier.

Diana was full of life and loved her family dearly. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in their many sporting endeavors through the years. She spent much time watching her son, Darin, coach basketball and did not miss many games. One of her favorite activities was baking cookies with her granddaughters; she also made the best pies! Diana loved music and belonged to two musical groups: Collinsville Chorale and 60’s Chicks Show Choir. She sang with these groups right up until her passing. Often known as the bird lady, she raised canaries in her home and loved to hear them sing. Diana cherished her plants and flowers and always had the most beautiful arrangements outside her house. Golfing was also one of Diana's hobbies, and she was known to be highly competitive. She was a lifelong member of the Collinsville VFW auxiliary. She was so loved and will be missed by so many!

A celebration of life will be held from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2023 at the Collinsville Gateway Center in the LaSalle Room. Please use the southeast entrance.
