Obituary for Donald W. Brown
Donald “Don” Wells Brown, 86 of Marissa, IL passed away Monday evening November 7, 2022, surrounded by his wife, Charlotte Ann, son, Brandon and many friends at the home he bought in 1969.
Don was born in Ohio County Kentucky in 1936. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Noel Brown and Nettie B (Jones), his brothers Parvin and Billy.
Don is survived by his wife of 65 years, Charlotte Ann, his son, Brandon Brown (Melanie Messer) of Raleigh, NC, one brother, Lane Brown (Brenda) of Beaver Dam, KY, one grandchild, Zachary Brown of Charlotte, NC and many nephews, nieces all of whom he loved and visited frequently.
Don began his work life at Trailer Brothers Construction and travelled all over the United States working large scale projects, a job he loved tremendously. He then came to Marissa in 1968, following his brother to work the coal mines for 30 years. By far some of his most proud accomplishments were his membership in UWMA Local 1148, all of his trips with his union brothers, and his 50+ years of membership with the Masonic Lodge of Centertown, KY.
He loved living in Marissa with all of his friends and sitting under his shade tree listening to St. Louis Cardinals and Kentucky Basketball games. He will always be remembered for his smile and a good story.
A celebration of life will be held in his honor in the future in Marissa, with a funeral and burial in Centertown KY.
