Obituary for Dortha J. Volkmar (Erwin)
Dortha J. Volkmar, age 96, of Highland, formerly of Greenville, died Monday, June 3, 2019 at her son’s residence in Highland.
She was born February 8, 1923 in Lodi, OK, the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Berger) Erwin. She married John L. Volkmar. He preceded her in death.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James Volkmar; three sisters: Nora, Faye and Doris; and four brothers: Marshall, Jack, Bill and Adalia.
Mrs. Volkmar is survived by two sons: Ronald Volkmar of Bastrop, TX and Larry (Brian Glanville) Volkmar of Highland; eleven grandchildren; fiteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Edmond Erwin of Supulpa, OK; and her daughter-in-law, Janice Volkmar of Dallas, TX.
Mrs. Volkmar owned DJ’s Clothing Store in Greenville. She also worked at Watson’s Drug Store, Southwestern Bell and Greenville Medical Associates.
According to her wishes, her remains will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
