Obituary for Elbert M. "Mark" Holbert
Elbert M. “Mark” Holbert, age 83, of Fairview Heights, Illinois, formerly of Nashville, TN, died at 5:05 a.m. Monday, November 15, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in O’Fallon.
He was born October 6, 1938 in Nashville, TN, the son of the late George and Gerthene (Talley) Holbert. He married Gwendolyn (Moore Prince). She survives.
Also surviving are four children: Sherman (Della) Hall of Nashville, TN, Ronald (Yvonne) Holbert of Springfield, TN, Melissa (Oscar) Hailey of Atlanta, GA and Terry (Sandra) Holbert of Virginia; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two step-children: Timothy Prince of Tennessee and Teresa Prince of Illinois; and two step-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two children: Elbert Holbert, Jr. and Kathy Holbert; two siblings: Joseph and Joyce; and his first wife, Katherine (Hall) Holbert.
Mr. Holbert was a business manager for Cement Mason Locals 909 and 148. He was a dedicated member of Kings Lane Church of Christ in Tennessee.
According to his wishes, he will be cremated and a graveside service will be held from 12 p.m. - 1 p.m. Friday, December 3, 2021 at Greenwood Cemetery North, 1248 Dickerson Road, Goodlettsville, TN 37072.
