Gary Gerard "Gett" Loepker passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at St Louis University Hospital, surrounded by his family.
He was born July 18, 1959 in Breese, son of Victor and Bernice (Rickhoff) Loepker.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, grandparents Henry and Frances Rickhoff and Anthony and Wilhelmina Loepker and several aunts and uncles.
Surviving are his children: Julie (Jonathan) Hoskins and Clint (Robin) Loepker; grandchildren: Katie and Cullen Hoskins and Chloe and Carson Loepker; his former wife, Connie (Langenhorst) Loepker; brothers: Steve "Ope" (Connie) Loepker and Alan "Alpo" (Sue) Loepker; nieces and nephew: Cassie Beckmann, Lauren (Tyler) Myers, Cambrin (Ryan) McAllister, and Cal (Shelby) Loepker; great nieces and nephews: Luke and Tessa Beckmann, Dru and Drake Myers, Bayn McAllister, and Baby Loepker; dear friend Tracy Harshaw; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Gett graduated from Central Community High School and was formerly employed at Jefferson-Smurfitt and All Purpose Erectors, where he was a proud member of IBEW 309.
Gett was a longtime member of the Clinton County Mens Bank Pool League and was several times an all-star. He was an avid supporter of the Smile Train Organization and loved his fantasy golf league with his brothers. Gett passed along to his children his love of classic rock, gas station food, and St Louis sports teams. His greatest Joys were spending time with his grandchildren (whom he spoiled terribly and always gave too much candy), and long visits to Carlyle Lake with his beloved dog, Yadi.
Even in death, Gett's generous spirit lives on, as his donation of body tissue will continue to touch lives for years to come.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2020 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 202 N. Broadway, Albers, IL. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Breese Caring First Resident Activity Fund, to benefit the friends and caregivers who helped him so much, and will be received at the visitation.
