Obituary for Helen I. Hall (Fyfe)

Helen I. Hall, age 82, of Galena, MO, formerly of Villa Park, IL, died on Sunday, February 28, 2021. She was surrounded by family and passed away peacefully at her son’s residence in O’Fallon, IL after a brief, but courageous battle with lung cancer.

Helen was born September 5, 1938 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late John and Marion (Hislop) Fyfe. On March 26, 1965 she married Frederick Hall. Shortly thereafter, Fred and Helen moved to Villa Park, IL where they lived for over 30 years, raising their family and building lifelong friendships. After retiring from May and Speh in 1997, Fred and Helen moved to Galena, MO where they made many more wonderful friends and learned to enjoy a slower pace of life. Fred preceded her in death on March 8, 2015.

Surviving are two children: Leanne Pokorski (Rich) of Morton Grove, IL and Bryan Hall (Anita) of O’Fallon; four grandchildren: Ricky Pokorski, Zoe Hall, Laura Pokorski and Shane Hall; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her four siblings: James Fyfe, Jean Peterson, Betty Westphal and Dolly Bentley.

Helen was a person of great faith who lived life to its fullest and encouraged those around her to do the same. She will be dearly missed.

A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church at Hideaway in Galena, MO at a later date. Burial of her cremated remains will be at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst, IL.

The family would like to thank BJC Hospice for providing compassionate care during Helen’s final weeks. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to BJC Hospice at www. BJCHospice.org.
