Obituary for James Patrick Burgett
James Patrick Burgett, age 75, of Troy, IL, passed away Monday, September 14, 2020 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.
He was born December 6, 1944 in East St. Louis, IL, the son of the late Luke and Catherine (Moravec) Burgett. He married Jacqueline “Jackie” (Risz). She survives.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, James “Jim” Burgett of Belleville; and a sister, Patricia Brown of Shiloh.
Mr. Burgett was a police officer for 26 years for the Collinsville Police Dept. Jim was a proud Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a third and fourth degree member of the Troy Knights of Columbus and a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Troy.
Donations may be given to the Troy Knights of Columbus.
A memorial mass will be held at 10a.m.Thursday, September 24, 2020 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, with Fr. Kevin Laughery officiating.
Facial coverings and social distancing will be required.
