Obituary for Janet Cissel (Miller)
Janet Cissel, age 90, of Shiloh, died at 8:53 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2022 at Mercy Rehab and Nursing in Swansea.
She was born April 30, 1932 in Auchinleck, Scotland, daughter of the the late James and Janet Smith Miller. She married Donald E. Cissel Dec. 19, 1952 in Washington, DC. He preceded Sept. 4, 2011.
Surviving are five children: David (Virginia) Cissel of Mobile, AL, James M. (Caroline) Cissel of Mt. Juliet, TN, Dawn C. (Sam) Morgan of Shiloh, Kenneth W. (Anita) Cissel of Elizabeth City, NC, and Ronald W. (Cynthia) Cissel of Lawrenceville, GA; ten grandchildren: Daniel, Jennifer, Ashley, Tiffany, Courtney, Kathryn, Hart, Amelia, Jonathan, and Haley; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Thomas "Tony" Miller of Yorkshire, England. She was preceded in death by a sister Agnes "Ann" Halliday; and two brothers: Alec Smith and James Miller.
Janet was a clerk for various law firms; mostly Blankingship and Keith in Fairfax, VA. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cross- stitching and spending time with her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Enjoy Church, 251 Regency Park, O'Fallon, IL 62269.
