Obituary for John R. "Jake" Skinner

John R. “Jake” Skinner, age 63, of Trenton, died at 1:29 p.m. Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Belleville Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 13, 1958 in Belleville, the son of the late Amos J. and Gertrude (Weller) Skinner. He married Deborah (Spires) Trokey July 9, 1993. She survives.

Also surviving are his children: Mark Trokey of Murphysboro, IL, Michelle Trokey of Glen Carbon and Elizabeth Trokey of Hurst, TX and Shelby of Staunton, IL; eight grandchildren: Cory White, Sierra White, Jordan White, Kaleb White, Gabriel White, Nathaniel Trokey, Ryan (Kelly) Trokey and Braedan Trokey; six great-grandchildren: Arlo, Corrina, Oliver, Rex, Elijah and Aspen; three brothers: Gil (Diane) Skinner of Janesville WI, Fred (the late Sharon) Skinner of Janesville, I and Steve (Radae) Skinner of Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews, along with many friends he has made throughout the years.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Glen Skinner.

Jake was a laborer for Union 670 in O’Fallon.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Kalmer Memorial Services, located on Rt. 50 between Lebanon and O’Fallon. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
