Obituary for John Trebing
John Trebing, age 93, of Edwardsville, died at 8:33 a.m. Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Stillwater Senior Living in Edwardsville.
He was born September 19, 1929 in Glen Carbon, the son of the late John and Beatrice (Slemmer) Trebing. He married Marilyn Ballweg in 1953 in Edwardsville. She survives.
Also surviving are three children: Mike (Linda) Trebing of Philadelphia, PA, Steve (Betty) Trebing of Kalamazoo, MI and Patti (Bob) Pfeiffer of Edwardsville; six grandchildren: Andrew Trebing, Aaron (Lindsay) Trebing, Matt (Andria) Trebing, Melissa (Morgan) Stuck, Kristi Pfeiffer Perez and Stacy (Shaun) Seibert; and nine great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Ronald Trebing, Betty (the late Benton) Lindsey, Kenneth (the late RaeLee) Trebing, and Leona (the late Noel) Morris.
John was an Army veteran who served in the Korean War. He was a skilled plasterer and was the manager of Ballweg’s Drug Store in Edwardsville. He loved to play golf and could repair anything. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren lovingly called him Gpa.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2022 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m.
Memorials may be given to the St. Boniface Angel Fund.
