Obituary for Judith Ann "Judy" Pletcher (Fruit)
Judith Ann “Judy” Pletcher, age 85, of Edwardsville, passed away peacefully at 8:43 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2022 with her family by her side.
She was born December 25, 1936 in Granite City, IL, the daughter of the late Clyde and Janet (Gerteis) Fruit. On August 10, 1957, she married Dean Pletcher. He survives.
Besides her husband, Judy is survived by two daughters: Carol (Robb) Treat of Edwardsville and Ann (Mark Warning) Alvers, also of Edwardsville; three grandchildren: Meghann Treat of Marietta, GA, Ben Treat of Bethalto and Kendall Alvers of Godfrey; one great-grandchild, Caitlyn Johnson; one sister, Janet Wildman of Norwalk, CT; and one nephew and one niece.
Judy was a 1954 graduate of Edwardsville High School. She attended the University of Missouri for three years, and Southern Illinois University her final year, where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She taught in the Edwardsville school district before joining her husband in operating Pletcher Funeral Home in Edwardsville from 1962-1996. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Edwardsville, Delta Gamma Sorority and a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, August 19, 2022 at First Presbyterian Church, 3601 Ridgeview Road, Edwardsville, IL. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2022 at the church with Rev. Dr. John Hembruch, Pastor, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church in Edwardsville.
