Obituary for Larry K. Wolfe

Larry Keith Wolfe was born in Tucson, Arizona on August 17, 1946 to Berniece Wolfe (nee Pitcher) and Jackson Wolfe. He married Cathy Wolfe (nee Wiegert) on October 26, 1974 in Savanna, Illinois. He is survived by his wife; daughter Jillian (Steve) High; daughter-in-law Julie Wolfe; grandchildren Mikayl, Emma, Jackson, Meadow and Alanna High and Lillian Wolfe; brothers-in-law Ross (Claudia) Wiegert, Grant Wiegert; sister-in-law Carol (Rob) Canier; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his, son Jason.

He graduated from Nacogdoches High School in Nacogdoches, Texas in 1964. He served in the US Army from January 1966 to April 1970, obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. His training included Advanced Infantry, Reconnaissance and Scout. He served in both the European and Pacific Theaters. In 1972, he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Stephen F. Austin State University.

In 1973, he attended a 24-month DoD Quality Assurance Ammunition Surveillance School. While serving with the Army Depot, he worked with conventional and chemical ammunition and guided missile maintenance and demilitarization. He was an Instructor and Nuclear Surety Officer at the Defense Ammunition Center and School at Savanna, Illinois.

In January 1981, he accepted a position with the Military Airlift Command, Directorate of Safety, Weapons Safety Division. He remained in MAC/AMC Safety and was the Deputy Director of Safety until his retirement in 2001.

Larry enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, working outdoors on his property and various hobbies.

Per Larry’s wishes, no funeral service or memorial will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that remembrances can be made in the form of contributions to the Michael J. Fox Foundation or Zion United Church of Christ in New Baden, Illinois.
