Obituary for Lillie B. Mackey (Harrington)

Lillie Bell Harrington Mackey was born December 17, 1930 in Itta Bena, MS to the union of Rev JC and Betty Anderson Harrington who preceded her in death. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior in 1949 in Caruthersville, MO. Raised in a large family, she was one of 18 children! She met and married Robert Mackey, Sr. and together they raised a large, beautiful family of their own with 14 children!

Mother Mackey was the matriarch of a great loving family. Having to keep clothes on more than a dozen children, she loved sewing and quilting. Her beautiful quilts will live on forever for those who have them. She was a great cook, but was famous for her peach cobbler. Family and friends alike could taste her love in every bite.

Although blessed with many long years of life, Mother Mackey passed peacefully at the age 90 on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Memorial Hospital, in Belleville, IL. She was also preceded in death by not only her parents, but her husband and three of her children (Robert Mackey, Jr., Tyrone Mackey and Marie Lee); grandchildren Scottie Penney, Earl Lee and Darline Lee.; and 15 of her siblings.
