Obituary for Linda Tompkins (Ferraris)

Linda Tompkins, age 74, of Kemp, TX, died Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at her residence.

She was born September 5, 1948 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of the late Alex and Marie “Dolores” (Raining) Ferraris.

Linda spent most of her teens and the majority of her life training and showing horses. She also started working for Alton Boxboard in the early 1970’s until she moved to Texas in 1978, where she enjoyed an illustrious career in training and showing horses. Her career also consisted of a short stint with an insurance company until she finally retired from Yellow Frieght in late 2014.

Linda’s passion has always been animals, especially horses and dogs. She treasured her dog, Tootsie, who was her companion for twelve years until her untimely passing in 2008. Linda also loved family. She loved spending holidays with family every chance she could. If she couldn’t, she would never forget to reach out to them and let them know she was thinking of them. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by three siblings: Sandra Marie (Mark) Zirkelbach of Kemp, TX, Patricia Rose (Ron) Long of Edwardsville and James Ferraris of Worden.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Alex Ferraris, Jr.

Linda’s remains will be interred at St. Boniface Cemetery in Edwardsville at 11 a.m. Friday, December 2, 2022.
