Obituary for Lonnie Lee Van Hoose

Lonnie Lee Van Hoose died on November 19, 2020, at the age of 75.

A native to Belleville, Lonnie grew up in East St. Louis, Illinois, graduating from East St. Louis High School in 1964. Lonnie then went on to become a veteran of the United States Army. Upon arriving home, was employed by US the Department of Agriculture as a bindery worker where he proudly worked for many years.

Lonnie was also a proud member of the Moose Lodge in Caseyville, Illinois, where he spent countless hours making many friends and amazing memories. He was a hard worker, prankster and all-around fun man who was loved by all.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his wife Melba M. (nee Blackwell), parents George W. Van Hoose and Lorraine (nee Chapel) Van Hoose, brother George A. Van Hoose, sister in law Loretta (nee McGinnis) Van Hoose, brother in law Gerald Blackwell and nephews Gerald Dean Blackwell and Robert Joseph Van Hoose.

Lonnie is survived by his three children: Paula Fulton of Collinsville, Katherine Hook of Glen Carbon, and Kenneth (Gloria) Van Hoose of St. Louis; six grandchildren: Rachael Fulton, Troy James Hook II, Raylee Hook, Mea Hook, Edward Valenzuela, and Erika Valenzuela; three siblings: Dennis (Maria) Van Hoose, William (Pat) Van Hoose, and Linda Van Hoose all of Collinsville, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Due to current restrictions, a private graveside service will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
