Obituary for Marie Dolores "Dolly" Ferraris (Raining)
Marie Dolores “Dolly” Ferraris, age 95, of Dorsey, IL, died at 6:17 a.m. Sunday, March 20, 2022 at St. Joseph Hospital in Highland.
She was born December 31, 1926 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of the late Henry and Minny Franses (Wilsonholme) Raining. She married Alex Ferraris April 12, 1947 in Webster Groves, MO. He preceded her in death August 29, 2020.
Surviving are four children: Linda A. Tompkins of Kemp, TX, Patricia R. (Ron) Long of Edwardsville, James V. Ferraris, of Worden and Sandra M. (Mark) Zirkelbach of Kemp, TX; four grandchildren: Mandy R. ((Dustin) Long Riechmann of Alhambra, Ronald Long, Jr. of Edwardsville, Tyler Ferraris of Worden and Megan Ferraris of Godfrey; and five great-grandchildren: Ayla Long, Regan Long, Brody Reichmann, Clayton Reichmann and Serena Riechmann.
Besides her parents and husband, Dolores was preceded in death by a son, Alex V. Ferraris, Jr.; and two siblings: Audrey Ilges and Sidney Taylor.
In her early years, Dolly worked as a telephone operator. She also gave horse riding lessons and raised Dalmatians and poodles. She was a dog groomer and was a seamstress for horseshow clothing. Dolly was a member of the Quarter and Paint Horse Association, as well as St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2022 at St. Boniface Cemetery in Edwardsville.
Memorials can be given to the Juvenile Diabetes Assn.
