Obituary for Mary Margaret Hines (O'Rourke)

Mary Margaret Hines, age 38, of Hamel, died Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.

She was born December 6, 1983 in Mt. Vernon, IL, the daughter of Edward J. and Pamela R. (Brewer) O’Rourke, both of whom survive in Mt. Vernon. She married Aaron Michael Hines May 30, 2009. He survives.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is survived by two daughters: Aubrey Lanette Hines and Hazel Mae Hines; three sisters: Jennifer (Ron) Seibel of Toledo, OH, Christine (Philip) Peiman of St. Louis, MO and Kelley (David) Houseworth of Casper, WY; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Constance (Nicol) Hines of Edwardsville; two brothers-in-law: Joseph (Sheena) Hines of Glen Carbon and Michael (Melissa) Hines of Arnold, MO; three nieces: Kathleen O’Rourke (fiancé Joshua Crimm), Amelia Hines and Ada Hines; and three nephews, Jacob Houseworth, Aiden Houseworth and Joshua Hines.

When Mary passed away, her unborn son, Declan Martin Hines, died as well.

Mary was a stay at home mother devoted to her husband and children. She treasured family time, extended family and friends, and her faith. She was a member of the St. Boniface School Board and active in several church groups. In addition to her family, Mary was a friend to many and an avid crafter. She was a dancer for much of her life and enjoyed the arts. Mary loved helping others and will be dearly missed by so many people.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, January 20, 2022 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 110 N. Buchanan St. in Edwardsville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 21, 2022 at the church with the Very Rev. Jeffrey Goeckner officiating. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Catholic Relief Services, Catholic Medical Missions Board or to St. Boniface Catholic Church.
