Obituary for Merritt Penwell
Merritt Penwell, age 60, of Kokomo, IN, formerly of Breese, died September 19, 2019.
Born in Vandalia, IL on September 7, 1959, Merritt moved with his family to Breese in 1963 where he attended St. Dominic School, Mater Dei High School and graduated from Central High School in 1977. He was most recently employed by Chrysler for the past 24 years in St. Louis and Kokomo.
He is survived by brother Park (Nancy) Penwell, Carlyle, IL; sisters Linda (Don) Zurliene, Colby, KS, Joan (Paul) Zafrani, Sarasota, FL and Sally (Skip) Duckworth, Keyesport, IL; half sister Marianna Townley, Portland, OR; dear friend Brenda Hustedde, Nashville, TN; his nephews and nieces: Guy (Lori) Penwell, Broomfield, CO, Valerie Duckworth Robbins, Keyesport, IL, Sara (Justin) Jamison, Colby, KS, Gabrielle Zafrani, Orlando, FL, Jacqueline Zafrani, San Diego, CA, Terri De Ment, Lake Oswego, OR and Mike DeMent-Myers, Portland, OR; and his great nephews and niece, Chas and Milo Penwell and Abigail Jamison.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Park and Emily (Carney) Penwell and brother Robert Guy (Elaine) Penwell.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2019 at St. Dominic Cemetery in Breese with Deacon Linus Klostermann officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Dominic Catholic Church.
