Michael Lee Hornacek, age 74, of St. Jacob, formerly of Fairview Heights, died at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at his residence.

He was born November 28, 1945 in East St. Louis, Illinois, the son of the late Anthony and Goldie (White) Hornacek. He married Michele Burger July 19, 1974 in Granite City, Illinois. She survives.

Also surviving are three children: Peggy (Ernie) Kitterman of Belleville, Michael Hornacek, Jr. of Fairview Heights and Shawn Hornacek (Crystal Harris) of Mississippi; two step-sons: Michael (Debbie) Bauer of Troy, Illinois and Dustin (Amy) Bauer of Maryville; thirteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a step-daughter-in-law, Tonya Bauer of St. Jacob; one brother, David (Carolyn) Hornacek of Belleville; and a nephew, David Hornacek, Jr., also of Belleville.

Besides his parents, Mr. Hornacek was preceded in death by an infant brother; a step-son, Scott Bauer and a granddaughter.

Michael was employed by CM Sales and Associates of Birmingham, AL as a manufacturer’s sales rep. He was also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

According to his wishes, his remains will be cremated and interred at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in a private ceremony.
