Obituary for Michael E. McLean Sr.
Michael McLean, Sr., was born January 18, 1941, in Granite City, IL. He passed away on August 31, 2020 at home with his wife of 22 years, Charlotte (Scaturro) McLean in Troy, IL.
He is survived by eight children: Pam (McLean) Beck, and Shawn McLean of Simi Valley, CA, Laura-Lee (Russel) Huber, Coffeen, IL, Shawna (Jeff Lee) McLean, Playa del Rey, CA. Crista (Stephen) Davis, Alhambra, IL, Eva (Lee) Bartony, Williamson, IL, Michael (Ann) McLean, Jr., Edwardsville, IL. and Ann-Marie (Robert) Flowers, St. Louis, MO.
Grandchildren: Jason (Sarah) and Kyle Beck, Jack Jeffrey, Michael Dominic (Xio) McLean, Hannah (Dalton) King, Claire-Elise Huber, Emily and Jessica Davis, Joseph (Heather), Quenton (Mariya), Veronica (Kiefer) Cyrus and Hugh Bartony; Adam (Rebekah), Jacob, Sidney, Ian, Eli, and Liam McLean; Alison Taylor and Macie Flowers.
Great grandchildren: Casey and Avery Beck, Penelope McLean, Amasa and Eleanor King, Madeline, Adriana, Scarlett, Drayvin McLean and Winifred Bartony.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Doreen (Braundmeier) McLean; sister Patricia McLean; brother Donald McLean, and great-granddaughter Valorie Bartony.
He is survived by sisters: Alice (Richard) Rezabek, Edwardsville, IL and Kathleen Kelahan, Livingston, NJ.
Mike worked in construction the early part of his life and was an accomplished carpenter. He built and remodeled dozens of homes scattered throughout Southern Illinois. He loved the outdoors; walking the woods, hunting game and mushrooms, building fires and watching a thunderstorm brought him great joy. His greatyest love was his family.
According to his wishes, his remains were cremated. A private memorial mass will be held at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Maryville, with Rev. Rob Johnson officiating. Private inurnment of his ashes will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Glen Carbon.
