Obituary for Mildred Marie Fortner (Taylor)
Mildred Fortner, age 90, of Freeburg, died Friday, December 24, 2021 at Freeburg Care Center.
She was born September 13, 1931 in Salem, MO, the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth L. (Lockley) Taylor. She married Jack Fortner November 8, 1963. He preceded her in death October 2, 2011.
Surviving are her children: Joe (Vicki) Fortner of Cahokia, Trish (Mark) Bridell of Swansea, Pam (the late Jim) Arnold of Belleville, Katie (Steve) Rietzel of Perryville, MO and Sam (Dena) Fortner of Sparta; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; eight great great-grandchildren; and five siblings: Jim (Connie) Taylor of Belleville, Ronald Taylor of Golden, CO, Donald Taylor of Port Richey, FL, May Jones of Herrin, IL and Shirley Holten of Smithton.
Besides her husband and son-in-law, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Sue “Suzie” Fortner; and five brothers: Francis Taylor, Charles Taylor, Glenn Taylor, Bill Taylor, Junior Taylor.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
