Obituary for Milton R. "Milt" Gerstenecker

Milton R. "Milt"  Gerstenecker
Milton R. Gerstenecker, age 82, of Edwardsville, died at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Relais Bonne Eau Hospice Home in Edwardsville. He was born October 15, 1932 in Troy, IL, the son of the late Edward and Edna L. (Stark) Gerstenecker. He married Ethel Graham November 11, 1957 in Edwardsville. She survives. Also surviving are four sons: Alan Gerstenecker of Worden, IL, Kevin (Angie) Gerstenecker of Troy, IL, Brian Gerstenecker of Edwardsville and Bruce (Connie) Gerstenecker of Edwardsville; six grandchildren: Chris (Amanda) Gerstenecker of Troy, Patsy (Jason) Alldredge of Collinsville, Sarah Gerstenecker of Woodburn, IL, Andrew Gerstenecker of Glen Carbon, IL, and Jennifer Gerstenecker and Alex Gerstenecker, both of Edwardsville; two great-grandchildren: Kayla and Mabry; and five brothers and sisters: Evelyn (Duane) Decota of Sikeston, MO, Marje Hall of Quincy, IL, Frank (Jane) Gerstenecker of Troy, MI, Jane (Bob) Converse of Troy, IL, and Grace Gerstenecker of Troy, IL. He was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters: Catherine McNiven, Bernice Heck, Dale Gerstenecker and Ed Gerstenecker; and his brothers and sisters-in-law: Glenn Hall, Babe Heck, Clark Lewis, Bill McNiven, Lyla Gerstenecker and Nell Gerstenecker.

Milt worked for Economy Boat Store in Wood River as a Grocery Warehouse Manager. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of Edwardsville American Legion post 199. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville, Edwardsville Knights of Columbus Council 1143, and 4th Degree Assembly 0225.

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Monday, February 16, 2015 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville. Funeral services will imeediately follow the visitation. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery in Edwardsville. Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Boniface Cemetery Association.
