Obituary for Nancy D. Mog (Teeple)

Nancy D. Mog, age 85, of O’Fallon, died at 7:28 a.m. Sunday, May 24, 2020 at her residence, blessed by family in her final days.

She was born March 14, 1935 in Beloit, Kansas, the daughter of the late George and Ruth (Ellsworth) Teeple. She married Willis L. Mog on June 3, 1956. He preceded her in death May 6, 2011.

Nancy is survived by two children: David Mog of Penrose, CO and Robert (Cathy) Mog of Huntsville, AL; and three grandchildren: Eric Mog, Sarah (Wade) Gunther and Riley (Sara) Mog.

She is also survived by devoted caregiver Loretta Wagner, and loving nieces Rebecca Owensby Webb, Mary Owensby Thompson, and Patricia Owensby Macfarlane.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by daughter, Susan Ruth Mog, brother George Dean Teeple, sister Barbara Teeple Owensby, and niece Peggy Elizabeth Schuster.

Nancy was a retired teacher and counselor at Lebanon Community High School. She adored her students right up to her passing. She loved her pets over the years as well. She had the gift of hospitality. She never shied away from controversial topics, her humor was always there, and her end of life wisdom was to be grateful for what you have – she lived that wisdom out to her last days.

Growing up in a small Kansas town with common moral values, she made the transition to Air Force wife with surprising ease. She loved traveling the US and world and was known for her love of foreign cultures, fabulous Mexican Fiestas, and especially her Christmas cheeseballs. She instilled a love of learning and education in her sons and herself went back to college in her 40’s and earned both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.

Nancy was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Lebanon and the Braeswood Book Club.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Her cremated remains will be interred at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Mankato, KS.
