Obituary for Pamela Y. Blankenship (Klenke)
Pamela Y. Blankenship, age 53, of Mulberry Grove, IL, died at 8:44 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
She was born February 11, 1969 in Highland, IL, the daughter of Delbert (Shirley) Klenke of Hardy, AR and Nona (nee Busch) (Jim) Nance of Pocahontas, IL. She married Bradley A. Wilkerson. He survives.
Besides her parents and husband, she is survived by two children: Garrett (Valerie) Blankenship of Mulberry Grove, IL and Caity (Mark) Hofelich of O’Fallon, IL; four step-children, whom she considered her own: Maddie (Skylar) Depew, Katey Wilkerson (fiancé Cameron Summers), Carley Wilkerson and Holden Wilkerson, all of Vandalia, IL; one grandchild, Amelia Blankenship; two step-grandchildren: Ella Depew and Paisley Summers; three siblings: Della Field of Greenville, IL, Jeffrey (Janice) Klenke of Buckeye, AZ and James (Valerie) Klenke of Greenville, IL; nine nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
Pam will be remembered dearly for her infectious smile, her zest and love for life and her family. She loved cooking, going to her kids' sporting events, Jeeping, country music, singing, dancing and going to concerts, road trips, cards (especially Euchre), the outdoors, water, boating, flip flops, her toes in the sand, sunshine and warm weather.
Being both soft and strong is a combination very few have mastered, yet Pam did for herself and her family, especially her children. She was beautiful inside and out, always looked for and found the beauty and good in others. Pam was a very dear friend to many; her arms were always open and welcoming and she never knew a stranger.
She is smiling non-stop now. She is singing, dancing, surely making someone laugh, probably being a bit of a smart aleck, playing Euchre as often as possible (and getting loners very few could), and doing it with dignity and grace, just as she lived and fought all of the battles in her life here on earth; she may have lost the battle, yet we know she is victorious in Christ and forever happy for all eternity.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2022 at First Christian Church, 1100 Killarney Dr., Greenville, IL. Services will immediately follow. Burial of her cremated remains follow in Brown Cemetery in Pocahontas, IL.
Memorials may be given to Siteman Cancer Center, Columbus Baptist Church or to Brown Cemetery.
