Obituary for Phillip A. Davis

Phillip A. Davis, 71 of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at home while surrounded by his family. He was born in Granite City, Illinois on January 26, 1952 to William Monroe and Henrietta Maxine (Herndon) Davis, both of whom survive.

He attended Granite City High School (Class of 1970) where he would make several lifelong friendships. In 1974, he met his beloved wife, Cynthia M (Arnold) Davis. The couple were married on August 7, 1976 and spent the next 46 years building their beautiful family together. He later went on to graduate with a bachelor’s degree from SIUE’s School of Social Sciences in 1977.

Phil and Cindy have two children together: Adam (Lauren) Davis of Edwardsville and Julie (Dawood) Bagheri of Wentzville, MO. Phillip loved his grandchildren endlessly: Cameron Davis, Grayson Davis, and June Bagheri. To his three grandchildren, he was affectionately known as Papa Phil. He is also survived by his two brothers, Randy (Norma) Davis of Granite City and Terry (Donna) Davis, also of Granite City.

Phillip was a proud partner and owner of Bonne Terre Construction for over 36 years where he and his team built hundreds of beautiful custom homes and developed a number of the area’s prominent subdivisions. He had a true passion for his work and for the long-lasting relationships he formed with his customers and business partners.

Outside of his work, Phil had a number of hobbies and passions that he pursued throughout his lifetime including, coaching baseball, hunting, fishing, camping, scuba diving, flying airplanes, beekeeping and tinkering in his barn. He also enjoyed giving back to his community where he helped with the original build (and rebuild) of Township Park, as well as numerous projects for Edwardsville Glen Carbon Little League Association, the Edwardsville High School Baseball and Softball organizations, Ducks Unlimited and Habitat for Humanity.

Those that knew him best would describe Phillip as kind, caring, genuine, welcoming, honorable, knowledgeable, hardworking, and someone who always had a smile on his face.

In honor of Phil’s wishes, the family will be holding a celebration of life gathering at a later date.
