Obituary for Roger Long
Roger L. Long, age 81, of Highland, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 5, 2021 at his residence.
He was born April 22, 1940 in Highland, the son of the late Leland and Oradell (Schoen) Long. He married Marianne Hill October 13, 1984 in Highland. She survives.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four children: Susan (Steve) Chasteen of Highland, Sandra (Jim) Branz of Millstadt, Randy Long of Troy, and Katie (Jake) Menendez of Highland; two step-children: Aimee (John) Inman of St. Louis and Lisa Hill of Highland; eleven grandchildren; and two siblings: Ronald (Patricia) Long of Edwardsville and Judith (Jerry) Gagliardo of Edwardsville.
Roger grew up in Alhambra, IL before moving to Highland, IL in 1976. Roger was an owner and operator of his moving and hauling company. He enjoyed travelling and watching the St. Louis Cardinal’s.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 11 at the church with Rev. Jeremy Wood officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery in Alhambra.
