Ruth Ann “Ruthie” Korte age 82, of Highland, IL died at 8:27 a.m. Monday, January 31, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her entire family.
She was born September 18, 1939, in Pocahontas, IL. The daughter of the late Melvin S. and Mable W. (Haenny) Oakley. She married David S. Korte, January 16, 1960, in Greenville, IL. He survives.
Also surviving are four children: Mary (Bill) Lutz of Troy, IL; Michael (Peggy) Korte of Grantfork, IL; Jo (Dale) Branscome of Greenville, IL; and Amy (Dave) Krempel of Algonquin, IL; eleven grandchildren: Justin Lutz, Casey (Kurt) Royer, Allison Lutz, Paige Fox, Michaela Korte, Jack Korte, Joshua Frith, Kort (Liz) Branscome, Kaleb Branscome, James (Lori) Krempel and Taylor Krempel; and seven great grandchildren: Evelynn, Logan, Julien, Tiffany, Tanner, Travis and Evan.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Oakley and Jim Oakley.
Ruthie was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland and St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Greenville. She loved family celebrations and spoiling her children and grandchildren with handmade clothes, costumes, and crafts. Ruthie enjoyed traveling, camping, and accompanying “Dave and the Korte Kids” at music-playing events.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Monday, February 7, 2022, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, with a memorial mass immediately following the visitation; with her nephew, Father Pat Jakel, officiating. Burial of her cremated remains will be in Brown Cemetery in Old Ripley at a later date. Memorials may be given to American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
