Obituary for Sharon M. Krapf (Bumann)

Our beloved and devoted wife and mother, Sharon M. Krapf, of Edwardsville passed away peacefully at home holding the hand of her youngest son, Matthew, on November 28, 2022. She was 79 years of age.

She was born April 13, 1943 in Swanwick, IL, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Mae (Robinson) Bumann. She married the love of her life, Thomas Krapf, on May 29, 1965. He survives. In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by four children; Lisa (Tom) Dennis of Elburn, IL; Paul (Nanci) Krapf of Bentonville, AR; Jason (Jennifer) Krapf of Edwardsville; and Matthew (Deanna) Krapf of Houston, TX. Sharon enjoyed many years with her ten grandchildren; Jack, Hannah, Jillian, Connor, Collin, Taylor Jane, Tyler, Morgan, Carson and Annetta. They survive as well as her sister, Marilyn Ogilvie, of Swanwick. Sharon was preceded in death by a son, Damon Krapf, and her brothers; Gene Bumann and Richard Bumann.

First and foremost, Sharon loved caring for her family. She was an excellent cook! There wasn't a night that supper wasn't on the table. Sharon loved to serve others, and often made meals for those in their time of need. In addition to caring for her husband and children, Sharon provided daycare in her home for 38 years. The children she cared for and their families were an extension of her family.

Sharon had many talents and hobbies throughout the course of her life. She was quite the seamstress! She shared her love of cooking with her children and was happy to share many of her favorite recipes including how to make pickles and pickled cauliflower. She also enjoyed canning vegetables, making strawberry jam, counted cross stitch, stamping, and card making with her friends. Sharon loved to play games such as Dominos and Uno with her family as well as bingo and bunco with her friends. Her last afternoon on earth was spent playing Dominos gathered around the kitchen table with her family. She loved crossword puzzles, Sudoku and more recently learned to play Words with Friends and Wordle.

Sharon was not much of a sports fan; however, she was a fan of watching her grandsons play the sports they love, and she attended many of their games and meets. She really enjoyed watching her granddaughters dance as well as baking cookies and pies with them.

Sadly, this Thanksgiving would be her last. She spent weeks preparing everyone's favorite foods and was so thankful her entire family would be gathering at our family home. It brings our family Great comfort that our last memories are filled with laughter, love and celebrating the blessing of being together.

Sharon devoted her life to her family and serving others because of her Great love and faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a founding member of Center Grove Presbyterian Church in Edwardsville where we will celebrate her life. The Lord blessed us with the best wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Sharon will be remembered as being a Great listener. She always had the answer to a problem, and she believed things would work out in their own time. She was patient, generous and selfless! We find comfort in honoring the woman she was, and we will miss her Greatly. Because of her faith that she passed on to her family, we know with Great confidence that we shall see her again.

"The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace." Numbers 6:24-26
