Obituary for Stanley F. "Stan" Wolfe

Stanley F. “Stan” Wolfe, age 66, of Beckemeyer, died Thursday, March 2, 2023 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO after a courageous four year battle with Leukemia.

He was born August 7, 1956 in Peoria, IL, the son of the late Kenneth Earl and Mildred Kay (Sigler) Wolfe

He married the love of his life, Cathy “Babe” Deiters November 25, 1977. They spent many years together, living life to the fullest. They worked hard and enjoyed life together, traveling many times to the Caribbean. Stan dedicated his life to making Cathy happy. She preceded him in death on September 11, 2019 and he was never the same.

Surviving is his son, Brian (Jamie) Wolfe of Troy, IL; his grandchildren: Brittany, Parker and Jack; his brother, Earl (Laura) Wolfe of Pekin, IL; two half-siblings, Tina St. Clair of Creve Coeur, IL and Tim (Tammy) St. Clair of Vanzant, MO. When Stan married Cathy he became part of the Deiters family and leaves his mother-in-law, Mary (Dwight) Shubert of Beckemeyer, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Tom (Jean) Deiters, Larry (Darla) Deiters both of Breese, Mary Lynn (John Pecsi) Hepner of Galva, Fr. Jim Deiters of O'Fallon, Gary Deiters of Washington, and Julie (Steve) Peters of Breese.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Herman Deiters; and his sister-in-law and her husband, Rita and Bryan Duncan.

Stan was known for being a man of few words, unless he was talking about his son or grandkids. He loved watching them play sports. Stan was a life-long Dallas Cowboys Fan, and one of the highlights of his life was when Brian took him to Dallas for a game for his 50th birthday.

Stan was a dedicated friend to many, whether it was as a pit crew member for the Pate family and helping with their stock cars, helping with the BCDC, or helping the Lammers with anything. He loved watching stock car races, listening to blues music and spending time with his friends at the American Legion. Stan was a retired volunteer fireman in Beckemeyer.

Stan worked as a painter for many years at Rockwell and later at E.F.I both in Centralia, and most recently helped at Mickelson’s autobody in Bartelso.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. – 12 noon Thursday, March 9, 2023 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Beckemeyer, with a Memorial Service immediately following. Fr. Chuck Tuttle and Fr. Jim Deiters will preside. Stan will be laid to rest next to Cathy at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery after the service.

Memorials may be given to the Beckemeyer Community Development Club.
