Thelma Wessol, age 94, of Carlyle, formerly of Belleville, passed away at 8:59 a.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018 at her son’s residence in Carlyle. She was born January 11, 1924 in East St. Louis, the daughter of the late Adam and Marie (Kaunas) Nauyoks.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Joseph Wessol, whom she married May 24, 1947, and who died May 24, 2018.

Mrs. Wessol is survived by her two children: Sid (Kay) Wessol of Carlyle and Debra (Jim) Rapp of Waterloo, IL; and four grandchildren: Joel Wessol (Sheril) of Springfield, IL, Patrick Wessol, DMD (Amanda) of Greenville, IL, Dr. Elise Wessol (Dr. Patrick Leonburger) of Madison, WI and Jaclyn Hattermann (Alan) of Peoria, IL.

Thelma retired from Illini Federal Savings and Loan in Belleville, after 30 years of employment. Like her husband, their grandchildren were the joys of their lives.

Private graveside services will be held at Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville.
