Obituary for William G. Papproth

William G. (Bill) Papproth, 95, of Lebanon, IL, passed away peacefully at his home on January 15, 2021.

Bill was born in Troy, IL and raised in Lebanon, IL. After high school, he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He returned from the military as a decorated veteran and joined Laborers' Union Local 670, O’Fallon, IL. Bill was a member of Local 670 for 73 years, giving him the distinction of being the oldest living member for many years. Bill loved working with his hands and built his own home in Lebanon, where he lived since 1955. He loved taking walks around town and socializing with his friends at Lebanon’s town square and McDonald’s. In his later years, he enjoyed sitting in his outdoor swing and going for drives with his son.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Darla D. (Brown) Papproth, children, Paul (Linda) Claussen of O’Fallon, IL, Patti (Billy Jack) Bennett of Lebanon, IL, Terri (Tom Boc-deceased) Papproth of Alpharetta, GA, Denise (Randall) Rodgers of Caseyville, IL, and Diane (Mark) Zimmerman of O’Fallon, IL, along with nine grandchildren, Bruce (Shauna), Amy (Dan), Steve (Nikki), Randy (Jaycie) Brad (Brianne), Lauren (Collin), Alissa (Sal), Lauren, and Allyson), and fourteen great-grandchildren, Ariel, Riley, Jackson, Claire, Liv, Milli, Caylee, Delilah, Lilly, Benjamin, Hadley, Julian, Jocelyn, and Skye.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, William A. Papproth, and mother, Viola T. (Geiger) Papproth, brother, Ralph J. Papproth, grandson, Lucas P. Bennett, and great-grandson, Zain L. Bennett.

Special thanks to Heartland Hospice for their care and compassion over the past seven months.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
