James Donahue, age 79, of St. Elmo, died Monday, October 31, 2016 at VIBRA Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born June 22, 1937 in East St. Louis, IL, the son of the late Frank and Beulah (Davis) Donahue. He is survived by his children: James David, Jr., Matthew Shane, and David Francis (Chale) Donahue; four grandchildren: Jake, Jamie, Kevin and Emalie Donahue; four step-grandchildren: Jeremy, Drake, Ava and Karissa Birkner; four sisters: Frances (Joe) Vargo, Mattie Nadise Flenniken, Mary (Ken) Bornert and Patricia Grant; and one brother, Al (Anita) Donahue; the mother of his children: Peggy (Poshard) Donahue. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles E.E. Donahue; and a sister, Nancy Lee Logan.
Jim was very proud of retiring after 33 years of driving a bus with no accidents for Bi State. He lived the last four years in St. Elmo Aperion Care Center. He was well cared for and as independent as he could be.
According to his wishes his remains were cremated. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, November 10, 2016, at Aperion Care Center in St. Elmo, IL
