Kenny E.  Schwahn
Kenny E. Schwahn, age 67, of Fairview Heights, IL, born January 11, 1951 in Belleville, IL, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at Memorial Hospital East in Shiloh, IL, surrounded by his loving family.

Kenny attended St. Albert the Great Catholic Grade School in Fairview Heights and Belleville West High School. He was the owner/operator of St. Clair Signs in Fairview Heights and a lifetime member of Sign and Pictorial Painters Local Union 774. Prior to owning his own business, Kenny worked in various sign shops in the St. Louis area. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends whether fishing, hunting the woods for mushrooms or sitting around the table telling stories. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, who will truly be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles “Jack” and Leona (nee Merrill) Schwahn; two brothers, Danny Schwahn and Billy Schwahn; two sisters, Janice Hancock and Karen Nihiser; and his father-in-law Delmar Downen.

Kenny is survived by his wife of 28 years, Suzanne (nee Downen) Schwahn; daughter, Michele (Brian) Hadden of Sneads Ferry, NC; two sons, Kenny (Lori) Schwahn of Belleville, IL and Keith (Kelli) Schwahn of Troy, IL; five grandchildren, Kyra and Skyla Hadden, Sydney and Tyler Schwahn and Lilly Schwahn; brother, Bobby (Sheryl) Schwahn; three sisters, Betty Lewis, Jackie (John) Spieker, and Laura (Bart) Ferrell; mother-in-law, Patricia Downen; two brothers-in-law, George “Skip” Downen and Jack Nihiser; sister-in-law Patricia Schwahn; nieces, nephews and other relatives. Kenny also leaves behind several close friends.

The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Memorial Hospital East ICU for the exceptional care they provided to Kenny during his final days.

Services: Join us for a celebration of Kenny’s life from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Steamfitters Union Hall, 1220 Donald Bailey Dr. in Caseyville, IL.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Belleville Area Humane Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
