Ronald J.  Doetsch
Ronald J. Doetsch, age 78, of Swansea, died peacefully and surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 21, 2016 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville. He leaves behind his loving children: Dennis (Marianne) Doetsch of Swansea, Scott Doetsch of O'Fallon, IL and Laurie (Richard) Barcum of Alton, IL; seven grandchildren: Ian, Alexander, Beth, Richy, Ryan, Curtis and Jennifer; six great-grandchildren: and two brothers: David (Vicki) Doetsch of Shiloh and Ken (Dorothy) Doetsch of Springfield, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents: Clarence and Helen (Stricker) Doetsch, to whom he was born February 8, 1938; and his former wife, Pat (nee Martin).

Ron was a Track and Field athlete while attending Belleville Township High School, where he held a 440 Relay record for many years. In 1962, Ron graduated from St. Louis College of Pharmacy and remained a dedicated pharmacist for many years. In later years, he worked as a drug counselor at Gateway Center in Granite City, IL, where he supported and inspired many young men in their recoveries. After suffering a stroke in 1999, Ron bore poor health with courage, fortitude and never a complaint.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Kalmer Memorial Services, with a memorial service immediately following.
