Anna Rhodes, age 85, of New Baden, died Friday, July 19, 2013 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville. She was born July 15, 1928 in Kassel, Germany, the daughter of the late August and Erna Lena (Gossman) Burghardt. She married Ernest Rhodes October 16, 1954 in Kassel, Germany. He survives. Also surviving are four children: Pete Rhodes of St. Louis, MO, Janette (Joe) Dally of New Baden, Stephen Rhodes of East Moline, IL, and Michael (Angela) Rhodes of Ballwin, MO; 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; three sisters: Anneliese Schmitt of Holland, Traudel Deeds of Florida and Grettel Keller of Germany; and a son-in-law, George Moore of of St. Louis. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Moore and a grandson, Ernest Skipper.

Mrs. Rhodes was a homemaker. She enjoyed crafts, especially, embroidery, knitting and crochetting. According to her wishes, her remains will be cremated and a private memorial service will be held.
