Cleo V. Kronenberger, age 89, of Belleville, died at 3:45 a.m. Thursday, July 4, 2013 at her residence. She was born Aug. 31, 1923 in Belleville, daughter of the late William and Rachel
(Jowette) Davis.
She married Melvin Kronenberger March 15, 1941. He preceded her in death December 19, 1988.
She is survived by 4 children: Thomas Kronenberger, Alan (Alana) Kronenberger, Brian Kronenberger and Brad (Lila) Kronenberger; 7 grandchildren: Chris Luchtefeld, Lisa (Clay) Goodwin, Andrea (Riley) Carpenter, Adam (Amy) Kronenberger, Aaron (Amanda) Kronenberger, Joshua (Michelle) Kronenberger and Zachary Kronenberger; 4 great-grandchildren: Janee Jackson, Wil Carpenter, Jonathan (Ashley) Goodwin and Ashley (Todd) Hayes; and 2 sisters: Amy Klein and Vivian Vance. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Luchtefeld; and two brothers and four sisters.
Mrs. Kronenberger was a school teacher at various area elementary schools. She received her Master's Degree from Southern Illinois Universtiy at Edwardsville, and was an avid reader with a particular interest in American History. She also received an education on Tap and Ballet from Franco Boreo School of Dance. Cleo devoted her life to care for her sons, Tom and Brian, and family meant everything to her. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Belleville.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Belleville. A memorial mass will follow at 2;00 p.m. at the church with Monsignor William McGhee officiating. Memorials may be given to Heartland Hospice or to St. Augustine Catholic Church.
