Dennis L. Gardner, age 63, of Edwardsville, died at 5:45 [.m. Friday, July 19, 2013 at his residence. He was born November 29, 1949 in Alton, IL, the son of the late Raymnd L. and Eva Irene (Hall) Gardner. He is survived by one son, Dennis M. Gardner of Benld, IL, two grandchildren: Sydney and Wyatt; a sister, Pamela (Larry) Flaugher of Edwardsville; and a half-brother, William Michael (Sandy) Knight of Benld; and a niece, Cindy Beal of Kansas City. He is also survived by his dear friends, Wendy and Jim Farrell of Edwardsville. He was preceded by a nephew, Arthur Knight.

Mr. Gardner was a cook at the TA Truckstop in Troy, and also formerly cooked at Rusty's Restaurant in Edwardsville. He was a veteran of the US Navy and was a former member of the Edwardsville American Legion. He enjoyed his hobby of collecting and assembling model cars.

According to his wishes, his remains will be cremated and there will be no services. memorial contributions may be given to Shriner's Hospital or to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
