Obituary for Dennis V. Hughes

Dennis V.   Hughes
Dennis V. Hughes, age 71, of Goreville, formerly of Georgetown, IL, died at 10:08 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. He was born August 7, 1941 in Danville, IL, the son of the late George Herbert and Frances Lucille (Galyen) Hughes. He married Carolyn Byerly on May 28, 1960 in Georgetown. She survives.
Also surviving are four children: Rhonda (Kenneth) Moore of Dana, IL, Kevin (Haifa) Hughes of Santa Clarita, CA, Keith (Mary Beth) Hughes of Marion and Raenee (Kenneth) McClintock of Georgetown; his grandchildren, Kaylen Hoskins, Kari Hoskins, Kandis Hoskins, Kristen Hoskins, Cain Hughes, Morgan Hughes, Kenna McClintock, Joseph McClintock, Coner McClintock, Alex Hughes, Nadine Hughes, Chad Moore, & Kayla Buck; his great-grandchildren, Quentin, Ethan, Preslee, Sofia, Florianna, Ryleigh, Amelia, & Jonah; four brothers: Rodney (Sara) Hughes of Georgetown, Stephen (Donna) Hughes of Georgetown, Larry (Judy) Hughes of Goreville and Gregory (Rhonda) Hughes of Bismark; and four sisters: Marilyn (Clarence) Henschen of Goreville, Phyllis (Norman) Ross of Georgetown, Janice (the late John) Jones of Russell, KY and Marsha (Ted) Byerly of Tilton, IL. He is also survived by a foreign exchange student, Vero Zidarich and her daughter, Mara, with whom they have remained very close.
Mr. Hughes was a radio announcer in Danville. While living in Georgetown, he was president of the school board, and was a member of the Georgetown Lion's Club. He was also a member of the Danville Rotary Club. He attended Grange Hall Church in Marion, IL, where Kevin McNeely pastored and became a good friend.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013, at First Church of Christ in Georgetown.
