Obituary for Elizabeth J. "Jane" Thomas (Goodson)
Elizabeth J,. "Jane" Thomas, age, 75, of Belleville, died at 2:20 a.m. Sunday, January 3, 2016 at her residence. She was born December 15, 1940 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of the late Homer and Betty (Yokum) Goodson. She married John Thomas in September of 1984. He survives. Also surviving are two sons: Craig (Joan) Mentzer of Swansea, IL and Christopher (Tracey) Mentzer, also of Swansea; four step-children: Brian "B.T." Thomas of St. Louis, Bryant Thomas of St. Louis, Beth (Lt. Col. Michael) Chavarria of Charleston, SC and Rebecca Nichols-Thomas of Omaha, NE; and 12 grandchildren.
Mrs. Thomas taught Junior High School in the Cahokia School District. She was also a commercial real estate appraiser, and was the former County Assessor for St. Joseph County in South Bend, IN. She was a member of Union United Methodist Church in Belleville.
A special thank you is extended to HSHS Hospice for their genuine care and compassion. Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Friday, January 8, 2016 at Union United Methodist Church, 721 East Main St in Belleville. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation.
