Gary Merhl Myers, age 65, of Lebanon, passed away at 5 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville.

He was born December 31, 1952 in Breese, IL, the son of Marilyn (Hemann) Myers Rutherford, whom survivies in Lebanon, and the late Merhl Myers.

Besides his father, Gary was preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie Myers; one brother, Tom Myers; and his father-in-law, Wayne Saugstad.

Surviving are his wife, Peggy (Saugstad) Myers of Lebanon, whom he married April 9, 1977 in Orange California; his daughter, Kelley (Justin) Kocher of Portage, MI; three grandchildren: Hannah, Gavin and Noah; a brother and sister-in-law, Willie and Penni Liebig of Lebanon; a niece, Nicole Liebig of Fairview Heights; a nephew, Matthew Liebig of Lebanon; his mother-in-law, Mary Lou Saugstad of Rapid City, SD; a brother, Brad (Jennifer) Myers of DuQuoin, IL; a sister, Elaine (Seth) Speiser of Freeburg; and his nieces and nephews: Nichole, Tracy, Kim, Tommy, Andy, David, Emily, Abbie and Mitchell; as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Gary was proud to be a member of Lebanon Volunteer Fire Department/EMS since 1993, and a volunteer firefighter for Station House 65 of Moreno Valley , CA from 1986-1989. Gary was an electrician by trade for American Bottoms for ten years. Prior to that he was employed by Monsanto for 28 years.

Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018 at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Lebanon. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to help offset medical expenses.
