Obituary

Herbert E. Wodtke, age 85, of Effingham, formerly of Loogootee, IL, died at 4:28 a.m. Sunday, June 21, 2020 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Effingham.

He was born January 2, 1935 in Fayette County, IL, the son of the late Edward and Helen (Werner) Wodtke. He married Susan Goldsboro. She preceded him in death February 17, 2016.

Surviving are three children: Dana Wodtke of Boulder, CO, Nancy (Gerard) Frey of Trenton, IL and Karl (Misty) Wodtke of Loogootee; three grandchildren: Haley, Levi and Grace Frey; and one sister, Joann (Larry) Miller of Jonesboro, TN.

Following a time spent working at Boeing and Emerson, Herbert farmed the family farm In rural Fayette county most of his life. He enjoyed farming, attending auctions “collecting” and visiting friend and family. He attended Macedonia Christian church.

According to his wishes, his remains will be cremated. A memorial service will be held July 8 at 7 pm at Macedonia Christian church in rural Fayette county.
