"It hurts. It will always hurt, in time it will hurt less, but it always hurts." I was told that a year ago and while not comforting it was the best advice I have ever gotten on losing someone close. When I met James I found his wit and intelligence remarkable fun. I would often challenge his logic with dry cynicism and over the top sarcasm. It made for some delightful conversations, and some that were remarkably humorous. I will miss that interaction.
When I first met James, I liked him instantly. He contained a subtle, light hearted personality that brought levity to everyone he interacted with, and will always be thought of for it. One could be so lucky as to meet people of his caliber, or to exude his charisma. I send my condolences to the family.
You were a beautiful soul. One of the big reasons I smiled on the days I saw you. One of the nicest men I have had the chance to meet. It is truly a blessing to have met and talked with you. I miss you. I am so sorry.
James was one of the first people I met when I moved to this area, I worked with him in the PC Maintenance office. He helped Amanda and I move into our apartment and became more than a coworker, our friend. James would come over and play cards on the weekend and ride his motorcycle with us. He always was full of information and riddles. Anytime you would see him, whether at work or not, he would greet you with "Greetings and Salutations" and a slight wave of his hand. We will miss you James, you will always be in our hearts.
I had the pleasure of working with James while he was in PC Maintenance. When I first starting working there, if I was sure how to do something I knew that I could ask James and he would show me the correct way of doing it. If I was working on a computer in the area where James worked, I would go by his workstation to say "HI". I will miss his occasional e-mails with riddles.
I had the privilege of working with James during his time in PC Maintenance. Even after he moved on he would continue to stop by and visit with me and the team. He even discussed writing a small series of our "Interesting Stories" in the shop together.
I will miss the challenge of his riddles but what I will miss most of all from him is in the answer to this riddle:
I am loud or quiet.
I am sudden or expected.
I am a strong medication.
I am a relief in certain situations.
I am caused by embarrassment and/or happiness.
I am found in many good friendships.
I am .......
James is my friend. I will always remember him. We were co-workers that enjoyed being friends. James often challenged me to solve a puzzle or riddle, more often than not, he did stump me. I liked the conversations that started with, "What if". From that point, we never knew where our talks would go.
I respect James as did anyone that knows him. He spoke often and proudly of his family. He loved travelling and the different locations where he lived. Cold weather places are his favorite. He often described Greenland, and did so well that when I saw the base on TV, I could recognize the local landmarks.
James is my friend.
