James R. Renth, age 74, of New Baden, died at 3:29 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2018 at Clinton Manor in New Baden. He was born July 8, 1943 in Belleville, the son of the late Adam and Marjorie (Ford) Renth.

Mr. Renth is survived by four children: Kevin (Judy) Renth of O’Fallon, IL, Anthony “Tony” Renth of Murphysboro, Kurtis (Laurie) Renth of DeSoto, MO and Dawn (Lee) Monical of New Baden; eight grandchildren: Tabatha (Seth) Green, Taylor Renth, Kurtis Renth, Jr., Kodie Monical, Kyle Monical, Kameron Monical, Kaleb Monical and Kolin Monical; one brother, Gary (Vicki) Walthes of Coulterville, IL; and one sister, Patricia Hodges of New Baden. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Melissa Renth; one nephew, Geoffrey Walthes; and a brother-in-law, Everet Hodges.

Mr. Renth was a member of the Laborers’ Union for 40 years and was a US Navy veteran. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Zion United Church of Christ in New Baden.
